The second stay in Kununurra also went by in a flash. Apart from relaxing evenings with Ann, the program included short early morning hikes to the Kellys Knob viewpoint at sunrise and through the nearby Mirima National Park.
Like ten days ago, we are sitting in Kununurra having coffee and writing this article. In the meantime, we have been enriched by so many wonderful encounters and scenic views that we are happy to write about them.
Although David recovered quickly and well from his dengue fever, we took a gentle approach to our Australian journey. On the first day, we limited ourselves to leaving the residential area of Darwin on a pleasant cycle path.

We arrived at Darwin airport around midnight with all our luggage intact. The fully automated immigration system was as unfamiliar to us as the subsequent biosecurity check. Unlike most customs officials around the world, the lady greeted us with a friendly smile rather than a grumpy, stern look.
Many things are different in Indonesia, such as buying ferry tickets: Many kilometers before the port, there were dozens of ticket sales points lined up at the roadside for the only available ferry. However, it took us three attempts before someone was able to issue us a ticket. The system was not available at the others😉.
