By crossing the border from Greece to Albania, we entered a new world. Both the mosques and the countless small, well-kept farmlands changed the landscape. On the roads we saw horse-drawn carts, the family cow and countless Mercedes cars of all ages and conditions. By the way: Officially Albania is the country with the highest Mercedes density! Our non-representative traffic count one morning indicated that about 2/3 of all cars are Mercedes.
Europe
Two weeks Northern Greece
Northern Greece gave us a warm welcome with temperatures exceeding 30°C.
Giro d Italia
The weather forecast for the days after our sightseeing in Rome was rainy and unsettled, especially in the mountains. We therefore opted for a less spectacular route through the lowlands. We were able to avoid the rain well, but not the surprisingly strong headwind.
Tschaupe differently: Amalfi Coast on foot
High above the Amalfi Coast leads the multi-day trekking “Alta Via dei Monti Lattari”. We used this trail as inspiration and shortened the route to two days (from Nocera Superiore to Sorrento).
All roads lead to Rome
… also a bike path leads along the river Tiber into the middle of the city. David navigated us confidently here and through the hustle and bustle. Yesterday we arrived in Rome and were lucky to spend the night a little outside the city with a host from Warmshowers (platform for bike travelers).
